CROCHET TRIANGLES AND FLOWERS...Still don't know what l'm making

Just a quick update on the triangles and flowers from the rose print cushion inspiration

 what comes next?...wish l knew

SC TRIANGLE PATTERN

6mm hook and two strands of DK or one of Chunky
For a firmer triangle use a 5mm hook

Simple pattern of 13 chain turned using the 1st 2 sts as 1st sc giving me 12 stitches at the end of the 1st row (counting the loop on the hook to start with actually make 14 chain sts)
Missed the 1st st out at the beginning of every row until l had an equilateral triangle…started and finished with long ends for stitching together
Worked in 2 strands of DK and SC

Measures about 5" wide x 4" high
8mm hook and 2 strands of DK or single strand chunky

FLOWER:
6mm hook and 2 strands of DK or one of Chunky

12 dc in a magic circle...1st colour
2nd row: 2 sc in each stich...2nd colour
3rd row: 2 chain and one dc in first st, dc in next 2 sts, one dc and 2 chain sl st into same stitch
sl st to next st and repeat....3rd colour

How beautiful a day can be When kindness touches it! ~George Elliston

THANK YOU EVERYONE

The plan was to eat at home, no cooking, a take away from our local pub....fabulous Chinese food,
but it got a bit too windy as the afternoon went on to eat in the gazebo
So we went to the pub instead and just had Birthday Cup Cakes when we got back

Thanks Tash for the wonderful yummy CUP CAKE Birthday...the chocolate ones were to die for lol
Sorry the focus is a little off...by this time l'd had a drink, a large one, and l don't normally drink so a little squiffy

Thanks for the beautiful vase, the flowers, the mini pompom maker, the DVD and especially thank you for all the
LOVE....
you have all really, really made my Birthday wonderful

Thank you, thank you, thank you l'm over whelmed by the Happy Birthday Wishes from on-line and

touchy feely friends too

You have all made my Birthday a day to remember

Friends

A friend is like a flower, a rose to be exact,
Or maybe like a brand new gate that never comes unlatched.
A friend is like an owl, both beautiful and wise.
Or perhaps a friend is like a ghost, whose spirit never dies.
A friend is like a heart that goes strong until the end.
Where would we be in this world
if we didn't have a friend.

My Rememberer

My forgetter's getting better
But my rememberer is broke
To you that may seem funny
But, to me, that is no joke
For when I'm "here" I'm wondering
If I really should be "there"
And, when I try to think it through,
I haven't got a prayer!
Often times I walk into a room,
Say "what am I here for?"
I wrack my brain, but all in vain
A zero, is my score.
At times I put something away
Where it is safe, but, Gee!
The person it is safest from
Is, generally, me!
When shopping I may see someone,
Say "Hi" and have a chat,
Then, when the person walks away
I ask myself, "who was that?"
Yes, my forgetter's getting better
While my rememberer is broke,
And it's driving me plumb crazy
And that isn't any joke.
Please send this to everyone you know because I DON'T REMEMBER who I sent it to!

BABY HAT IT IS...

Decided l didn't want it adding to the pile of experiments filling my craft room lol
and the first use of a pompom too
hope it fits Jessica..l'll be sure to get a picture of her in it for later on in the year
have fun all x

Well it poured and it poured yesterday...but look what arrived this morning....

the sunshine and a garden full of beauties
the creamy white lilies came out to play and the roses shouted for joy....

Everything seems to have enjoyed the rain yesterday..even me l stayed in and tried to find a new project to play with...and reflected on the time of year, you know its around this time,
give or take a couple of days, since l started this latest woolly adventure

IT STARTED WITH THIS...

It was just before my Birthday 2 years ago, on the 24th June
Hyperbolic crochet and a trip to the local Wool shop was the start of a wonderful journey of colour and fun....and friendship
A few days later l was playing with stripes and circles

and yesterday l played with triangles...

No idea where this one is going yet..but l'm still having lots of colourful fun with a little hook and a ball or two of wool
I LOVE PLAYING HOOKY

Surrounded by flowers...and friends
and the sun is shining too
 life is great

Sending all you lovely people out there a flowery hug today and a thought for you all

Don't Give up or Give In........

No one can go back and make a brand new start.

But

anyone can start from now and make a

brand new ending.

Hugs to all

Just looked back at the post and the people that must have started me off thinking about crochet something l hadn't done for a few years....take a peek

Pompom rug How Too....my way of tying a pompom tightly

Wrapping the yarn
l usually use 3 or 4 strands and wrap evenly back and forth 3 times finishing the end that moves to the second half wrap
Tying tightly
Some yarns are weaker than others usually 2 strands is enough for tying tightly
but occasionally l use 3 strands....
By threading the ends through the loop end you can pull it tightly inside the groove before wrapping the ends to the other side and tying a double knot...the maker groove helps to keep it tight

Make sure you cut them long enough to tie and use
you never know what you might want to do with them after making
BACKING?
For now l'm trying the anti slip matting for the backing....can't see any reason why it won't work
But l'll let you know if anything crops up
I'm also tying the pompoms quite close but entirely up to you as how close you chose
they can be spaced side by side or staggered..depending on the pattern you are making

Hope that helps you pompom makers out there?
Still deciding on the pattern so a finished rug might be a while yet

8 Petal Flower Rug
The Large Oatmeal 8Petal Flower rug now has 3 rows of flowers complete and getting quite heavy and HOT...with the warm temperatures we are having just lately...not a good time to be making a rug me thinks!
so just doing a couple of flower motifs at a time
right now it's big enough as a bedside rug and l must say it is so soft to step onto in a morning with bare feet...but it is supposed to be for the craft room
At the moment it is only 3 rows of 5 motifs and the plan is for it to be 8 rows of 5 flowers..a whoppa
May be l'll say it is half made and just repeat what has been made already?

Hope it's drier where you are today..have a wonderful weekend everyone
Hugs to all x

SPOTTY PLAYTIME...DESIGNING A POMPOM RUG

A Rug of 30" x40" (approximate size) 13 x 16 pompoms
....needs 208 pompoms of 2.5" diameter

Repeat pattern of a Simple Design to make a rug....

Love the strips of leftover paper...what to do with them?
long rug...

Been asked how l tie them tightly so later today l'll take some photo's and post a 'How Too'
and add how l'll make up the rug
Won't have the small (3/4" and 1" ) pompom maker until next Tuesday....going to be a Birthday Pressie, before deciding on the final rug...may mix the sizes may not.

There might be a wait for a final rug 'cos l'm still playing on paper and trying to decide
but l will post the how too's later today and tomorrow

Have a fabulous Friday everyone

Designing a One Round GRANNY SQUARE or pom pom rug

as i have a new pompom maker

Been giving it some thought over the last few days and came up with the idea of lots of punched circles in lots of colours and placing them in a design....
A more formal but simple design

....taken from the cross stitch design below
Not sure its simpler than graph paper and coloured pencils but...

You could make a throw/rug from any cross stitch or grid design...replace each stitch/square with a punched circle or square on graph paper

A simple stripe

Below is a spot variation on the first cross stitch pattern..
another very simple design...
Collage of the cross stitch pattern as a repeat to make a large throw
I can see lots of simple cross stitch design that could be made
Hows this for a great use of  cross stitch...
another variation...
from Bloesem

CROSS STITCH TO CROCHET
One round granny square measures about 3/4 -1" in cotton yarn.
 4mm hook

A small almost cushion size piece from the red flower cross stitch

Happy Hooking all x
